The run up to the Holidays is a great time to look for genuine Chanel handbags and clothing on eBay.

eBay sellers of designer goods often save the best pieces for this time of the year so buyers will have a great selection to chose from.
One of the most searched for items on eBay is the chanel handbag, the chanel 255 and reissue bag is the classic, the Chanel boy bag is a hot new bag that has been making an appearance on eBay recently too. Following are my own tried and true tips for successful buying on eBay.
- Be cautious about buying Chanel perfume at auctions unless the seller is a reputable seller - its difficult to know what you are getting in the bottle and some sellers seem to be unaware that is forbidden to send perfume in the mail without a special permit- see the big signs in the Post office.
- eBay is a great place to buy a genuine Chanel bag, buy from sellers with lots of feedback and that use Paypal,check their feedback comments for any negative and neutral comments before your bid. Ask for extra pictures if you need to see more details. Read the full listing for their conditions of sale and return policy before bidding.
- Chanel clothing is easy to buy if you know your size. Chanel sizes are true and consistent so once you know your size you will know what to look for. Sizes are European - a size 40 Chanel jacket should fit a 38-40 inch bust - like US size 6. If possible go to a Chanel store to try on for size. If you are buying on eBay expect to see a picture of the label that in is focus. Chanel Cardigans are also very popular.
- If you see a chanel jacket you like check the label and description to see what year and season it was made. e.g the mark 06A indicates the 2006 Autumn collection, 02P indicates the 2002 Printemps (french for Spring) collection.
- Fortunately most Chanel items I have bought on eBay were well cared for and barely worn and I have not had to return anything - but most have needed cleaning to freshen them up - I have even dared to hand wash a Chanel jacket myself with success using hand soap and cold water and drying flat on a towel.
- Familiarize yourself with past season Chanel clothes by searching for online videos and pictures of past season collections. Youtube and fashion websites are great sources for runway collections. http://www.stylebistro.com is one of my favorite sites for runway pictures . I like to find the runway picture of anything I bought, so when I resell it later I have the picture for reference.
- Last but not least, don't get caught up in a bidding war on eBay. Decide on a budget and stick with it. Add items you like to your watch list on eBay and watch the bidding but don't be tempted to keep on outbidding and go beyond your budget. New listings appear every day so you will have plenty of other chances to find your dream Chanel bargain.
